A QSL for Johnny Tobacco Radio on 6275 kHz. At first I thought I received Akenzo, which is also broadcasting on this frequency.
Johnny Tobacco runs a 1.5 kW transmitter on a dipole. And yep it was “booming in”. Location is in the north east of the Netherlands. I heard “Abu Dhabi” as an alternate ID. I got the address through this excellent website: https://shortwavedx.blogspot.com/
Thanks Peter.
Johnny Tobacco sometimes uses different names for his station, IDing as Abu Dhabi Radio, Black Bandit or Triple L Radio. He is certainly one of strongest of the Dutch shortwave pirates and often ends his broadcast with Vera Lynn’s “We’ll Meet Again.”
just. Zeer krachtig station. Prachtig!
Heard him today at 1648 UTC as Radio Abu Dhabi on 6300 kHz and wonder how long his reply will take, if he replies at all.
Hi Peter,
I have just listened to Kolkata Radio on 10066 khz USB and looked in your country list for an email address.
I was astonished that there is no entry for India. Have you overlooked that big country? I am sure you must have got a QSL from All India Radio some time in the past.
So this will be an easy 198th EDXC country for you before the year ends.

Hi Joé, I wish it would be that easy. Please bear in mind that I started this website in february 2023 shortly after I resumed the hobby. And while I occasionally do post something from the past, almost all my posts are about stations I received since. My full list of countries received can be found via the menu, or click here: country list . As you can see I received a QSL from All India Radio in 1980. Recently I sent reports to Akashvani AIR on shortwave, and Akashvani on 1206 kHz… so let’s see if I can get India on the menu.
